Meditation Space Guidelines

Meditation rooms are spaces for prayer, meditation or personal reflection during the times this room is not reserved for other uses or events. This is not a place for studying, group meetings or napping. Be considerate to maintain a silent environment of prayer so that other visitors can enjoy the space for that purpose as well.

Usage of the Rugs:
You are welcome to use the rugs that are stored on the cabinet shelf. Please place them back on the shelf when you are done with prayer so others can use them.

Usage of Washing Stations:
Be considerate to use the washing stations properly so that the area is clean and neat for the next person using it.

Please Note:
  • Always keep this place clean as it is a place of prayer.
  • Absolutely no food or drink, including coffee or water in this place. You will be responsible for any damage to the carpet or furniture.
  • If you have an emergency, please call Public Safety at (651) 962-5100.
  • If you see any damage or need assistance, please contact spirituality@stthomas.edu or call Campus Ministry at (651) 962-6500.

Project for Mindfulness and Contemplation

The Project for Mindfulness and Contemplation (PMC) is a collaborative partnership with the Center for the Common Good, The Center for Well-Being and Campus Ministry. The PMC works to create a safe space for supporting and educating the St. Thomas community in meditative and contemplative practices, to inspire awareness, compassion, and wholeness in every moment. One University–One Breath

Most of us find it challenging to live in the present moment — to experience and appreciate the gift of life as it is actually taking place. One way to live more of our lives in the present, instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, is periodically to pause and pay attention to what it feels like simply to exist in time and space. This practice in awareness reaps physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits. Learn more on OneStThomas.
