J-Term and Summer Term Financial Aid
Tuition Discount plus Financial Aid
Summer session and January term (J-term) courses are offered at a 50% tuition discount. Students who register for these courses are encouraged to submit a UST J-term/Summer application to learn more quickly about their projected costs and aid eligibility so they can make an informed decision about their enrollment. The applications open annually when registration for the respective terms begins.

- Summer Financial Aid Guidelines
All students who have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are automatically considered for additional federal and state aid based on their enrollment in J-term and/or summer. The UST application is not a requirement to receive aid for those terms. Our automatic review takes place after the census date of spring semester for J-term, and early June for summer. Students who want to learn about aid eligibility sooner should complete the respective application. You must be a degree-seeking student at the University of St. Thomas to receive most financial aid programs during summer session and/or J-term.
There are no institutional grant or scholarship funds available during summer session and/or J-term. The availability of ROTC assistance during summer session and/or J-term will be determined by the military detachment providing the scholarship funding.
The Financial Aid Office will begin reviewing summer financial aid applications near the end of March.
