September Newsletter

We Know College Students

The Center for Well-Being provides compassionate care, education, and resources to help students. We offer a wide variety of services to support well-being. Please encourage your students to familiarize themselves with the Center for Well-Being services. We know college students and want them to stay healthy and thrive.

Academic Counseling Updates

Students are responsible for monitoring their enrollment and ensuring their fall schedule is accurate and finalized by September 19, the last day to add or drop a class with a full tuition refund and without a notation on their transcript. Students can consult with an academic counselor via drop-in hours or by contacting academiccounseling@stthomas.edu or 651-962-6300.

Staying Healthy: What to Have at College

Your student's health is always a priority, especially as they begin a new academic year at college. To help with the transition, the Center for Well-Being has gathered some important information about what to have on hand; insurance details to check, items for day-to-day medical needs, and how to access care and well-being services on campus.

Pray It Forward

The Office for Mission and Alumni Engagement are pleased to offer “Pray It Forward,” an opportunity for parents, students, alumni, and friends of St. Thomas to join us for 15 minutes once per month to pause, gather online, and pray. Register for our October 18 session.

This year's Family Weekend will be held September 22-24. Join us and attend exciting events with your student. The Family Weekend page on Tommie Link has information and the schedule of events. Tickets to athletic events can be purchased on Tommie Sports.

Homecoming 2023

The deadline for J-Term and Spring 2024 study abroad applications is October 1. Keep your eye on our event calendar for group advising and program info sessions.

Scholarships for Business Ideas

The Fowler Business Concept Challenge is open to current University of St. Thomas students. Participants can compete in the Business Concept Track, focused on traditional commercial ventures, or the Social Venture Track, focused on solving social and/or environmental problems using entrepreneurial methods. Finalists compete for up to $15,000 in scholarships.

Fall Career Fair

Employers are ready to return to campus and connect with students. Encourage your student to attend the Fall Career Fair on Friday, September 29, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This event connects students with a multitude of career possibilities, fosters valuable connections with professionals, and potentially paves the way for internships and future employment. Students can register via Handshake.

Students Calling You

Throughout September, Student Ambassadors from the Engagement Center will be calling to check in, share updates, and discuss how annual gifts make access to a transformative St. Thomas education possible for many. We hope you will connect with them by answering their call from (651) 962-6993.

Subcription Access

The Libraries added new subscriptions to the daily online versions of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post. Students can now scan headlines and read current articles on their mobile devices and laptops. The subscriptions also include extra content such as videos, podcasts, games, and puzzles. Accessing these news sources is free, but some may require students to create separate accounts, which are also free.

March Through the Arches

You are invited to view the March Through the Arches, the St. Thomas tradition of welcoming new Tommies.
