How to Find Them

Sessions are available both in-person and virtually.

Employers have embraced virtual connections with students, and Handshake always has dozens of information sessions with organizations across the country and world.

How to Prepare

  • "Business casual" dress is appropriate.
  • Be prepared to ask one or two questions.
  • Have your resume prepared to give to recruiters
  • If it’s a virtual session on Handshake, make sure your profile is up to date.

Questions to Ask at Employer Information Sessions

  • How would you describe the culture of your organization?
  • What does a typical career path/career ladder look like at your organization?
  • What traits and skills do hiring managers look for in candidates?
  • Where does your organization advertise open positions?
  • Do you offer summer, part-time, or internship positions? How can I apply?
  • How competitive are positions in this field?
  • How should I prepare for a successful interview with your organization?
  • What is the single most important piece of advice you would give college students?

After the Session

Connect

Reach out to the representative after the session – either at the event or via email/LinkedIn request later.

Network

Tell the panel representatives what your career goals are. Even if you are not interested, they may know someone in the area you'd like to pursue.

Gratitude

Thank them again for taking the time to come to St. Thomas to talk to students!
