Living on Campus

When you live here, we help you make it feel like home. Options include multiple eateries that suit a variety of tastes, live music when you want to chill, and sports facilities of all kinds when it’s time to push your physical limits.

As a Tommie you get the classic college campus experience with the comfort of it being in a small neighborhood. Our main campus located in St. Paul. It's nestled between the Merriam Park and Macalester Groveland neighborhoods, both of which are known for being safe, active and also not too far from two large cities. Students can easily hop on a shuttle and explore downtown Minneapolis, too.

Learning Communities

As a first-year student, you will choose what Learning Community best fits your interest, and that decision will help guide you in picking your residence hall.

Living Learning Communities (LLC) are specialized living environments that help connect students in and out of the classroom. Each LLC is unique, but all are centered on an academic area of interest or academic program.

The goal of a Theme-Based Learning Community (TBLC) is to provide students with an experience centered on a mission-based theme.

Campus Safety

The safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors is the top priority of the St. Thomas Public Safety Department. That’s why, across our campuses, we engage in wide-ranging safety efforts. Our comprehensive services help Tommies study, work and live in a safer and more secure campus environment.

The University of St. Thomas has 24-hour, full-time Public Safety staff, trained and ready to assist you on both the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses. We respond to requests for assistance and train the community to prevent crime before it happens.

At St. Thomas, caring for the planet is in our DNA. Our sustainability programs run through our residence halls, dining halls, service center, bookstore and classroom curricula.

We are working as a community toward a goal of carbon neutrality by 2035, which is why St. Thomas' Board of Trustees approved a university commitment to divest our endowment from fossil fuels.
