On Saturday, April 1st, the Globally Minded Student Association hosted the 28th Annual International Dinner here at St. Thomas. With roughly 400 guests in attendance, the International Dinner was one of the hottest events of the semester, selling out faster this year than it had in past years. Featuring performances from both students and off campus groups, fantastic food from local restaurants, and the presentation of some well-deserved awards, the dinner was a fun event for the entire family.

Meet Romina, a Fulbright Scholar from Rosario, Argentina who is spending a year at St. Thomas. Romina arrived in September and is almost finished with her year in the U.S. The purpose of the Fulbright Scholar program is to send people abroad to gain a first-hand experience of life in another country and promote understanding among different cultures. This year, Romina was one of 450 Fulbright Scholars from all over the world who came to the U.S. to teach. As part of the Fulbright program, Romina works as a Spanish tutor and teaching assistant, but also acts as a cultural ambassador for Argentina.

For spring break, most students hope to find themselves on the beach soaking up the sun. This spring break, Jenny decided to do something different and go on a VISION trip. VISION is a service and cultural immersion program at St. Thomas with the goal of being the change we need in the world. For this trip, Jenny went to White Rose Farm in Missouri, which is a community of small family owned farms focused on sustainable living.

Under the guidance of the strategic themes of Globalization and One University, the events aim to recognize the many global engagement efforts already taking place at the university in teaching, learning, research and service. This celebrations planned throughout the week aim to highlight how each member of our community can engage globally and how we can support the St. Thomas vision for a better world.
