Peer Health Educator Program

The Peer Health Educators (PHE) strive to promote healthy lifestyle management by raising awareness and knowledge through outreach programs and role modeling. Peer Health Education provides students with factual information that will allow them to make informed decisions about their personal health and safety. Our primary goal is to develop fun, creative, interactive, and educational programs that reach the entire St. Thomas community.

Each of our PHEs completes the NASPA Certified Peer Educator training in the fall of each year. Students who are certified receive a CPE certification stating they have been trained in the core skills that will make them better leaders, role models, activists, and team members. After completing the training, students receive a certificate, membership card, and resume distinction.

Our Peer Health Educators focus on the following areas of well-being:

  • Physical Well-Being
  • Mental Well-Being
  • Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Violence Prevention
