Music Major Audition Day

We invite current high school seniors and incoming transfer students interested in majoring in music at the University of St. Thomas to audition into the music program on Saturday, November 5, 2022.

Students will be notified within the month of their acceptance status into their respective program, as well as notification of an invitation to compete for a scholarship at the Music Major Scholarship Invitational, which will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

The deadline to register for Music Major Audition Day is Tuesday, October 25. Your personalized audition day schedule will be sent to you one week prior to the event.

If you are unable to attend the Music Major Audition Day, you can audition via our online application portal. The deadline to submit your application is February 1, 2023. Please contact music staff makenzie.kauffman@stthomas.edu with any questions you have about the audition process.

  • Music Major Audition Day will run from 9 a.m. - Noon on Saturday, November 5. Each musician will be assigned a personalized schedule that includes:

    • A short check-in with our staff
    • A 20-minute practice session with an accompanist (if you do not have an accompanist, a St. Thomas accompanist will be provided for you)
    • A 10-20 minute audition block with our faculty

    Additional warm-up spaces will be available to you prior to your scheduled practice time.

    Audition guidelines and suggested repertoire can be found on our Music Auditions and Scholarships webpage. Any supporting materials for your audition should be emailed in PDF format to music@stthomas.edu no later than Monday, October 31.

    • Bachelor of Arts in Music
    • Bachelor of Arts in Music Business
    • Bachelor of Music in Music Performance
    • Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Vocal or Instrumental Concentration

    Music Major Scholarships

    Undergraduate students planning a major in music, music education, music performance and music business are welcome to apply for a music major scholarship.

    Students selected to advance in the scholarship process will be invited to on-campus auditions. Scholarships range from $1,500 - $10,000 annually and are renewable for for years of study.
