St. Thomas Faculty and Clinic Students Lead Immigration Discussion at Concordia

2L Evangeline Dhawan, 1L Michelle Gonzalez, and Professor Virgil Wiebe joined a panel of speakers at Concordia University on April 17, 2018 speaking to the Latino(a) Organization for Students. Evangeline is finishing up a year in the Appellate Immigration Clinic and gave a presentation on the asylum process. Michelle will be in the Immigration Clinic next fall, and shared about her family’s experiences. Professor Wiebe provided a brief overview of immigration law. Other panelists included a family therapist serving immigrant communities, a university staff member who had gone through the DACA program, and an immigration attorney who came to the US as a refugee when he was a child.
