About 97% of first-year students receive merit scholarships that bring the average tuition cost down to $21,000 per year.

Board of Trustees Academic Scholarship

Amount: $2,000 - $4,000 per year

Eligibility:

  • Prospective first-year students who have been admitted to St. Thomas
  • Cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.75

Complete application review begins: February 19, 2022

Additional applications will be considered until the Trustee's Scholarship funds are exhausted.

Dease Scholarship Program

Named in honor of St. Thomas’ 14th President, the Reverend Dennis Dease, who was committed to making a St. Thomas education accessible to students from all socio-economic backgrounds, the University of St. Thomas annually selects approximately 10 well-qualified students to receive a full-tuition Dease Scholarship.

Amount: Full-tuition and required fees

Eligibility:

  • Prospective first-year students who have been admitted to St. Thomas
  • Students who attend a public or charter high school in the city of Minneapolis or St. Paul or any MN Catholic high school
  • Students who have high financial need
  • Students who demonstrate commitment to academic excellence, leadership and their communities.

    The GHR Fellows program is a highly competitive, transformational undergraduate experience for students pursuing careers in business. Fellows receive full-tuition scholarships to the University of St. Thomas and customized programming designed to deliver leadership experiences – including global exposure through a fully funded J-Term study abroad experience.

    Amount: Full-tuition between St. Thomas and GHR funding

    Eligibility:

    • Prospective first-year students who have applied to St. Thomas
    • Intend to major in business
    • Cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.7
    • Embody the mission and values of the University of St. Thomas
    • Model the values of GHR by demonstrating that you are ethical, innovative, globally aware and engaged in your community

    Application: Eligible students must complete an application by January 7 and be invited to attend the GHR Fellows Program Test Day held in late February. Scholarship recipients are notified in March.

    These competitive scholarships are awarded by the Schulze School of Entrepreneurship to applicants with proven entrepreneurship potential who intend to major in Entrepreneurship. Multiple full-tuition scholarships will be awarded each year to qualified candidates.

    Eligibility:

    • Prospective first-year students who have applied to St. Thomas
    • Intend to major in Entrepreneurship
    • Preference for students with a high school GPA of 3.5 or greater

    Named in honor of Father James Whalen, long-time faculty member and department chair who specialized in Media Ethics, this scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit, demonstrated aptitude for communication, commitment to community service and career-related activities, and the promise of success in a journalism-related career.

    Amount: $2,000 per year

    Eligibility:

    • Prospective first-year students who have been admitted to St. Thomas
    • Intend to major in Journalism
    • Must enroll in one Journalism class for the fall semester of their first year.

    Deadline: March 3, 2022

    Amount: $2,000 for the first year

    Eligibility: 

    • Prospective first-year students who have been admitted to St. Thomas
    • Cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.3
    • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and leadership qualities
    • An interest in developing both spiritually and professionally
    • Hope to pursue a degree in the professions or sciences along with a major or minor in Catholic Studies

    Complete application review begins: January 10, 2022. Finalists will be contacted to arrange a 15-minute in-person or virtual interview.

    Additional applications will be considered until the Catholic Studies funding is exhausted.

    • Intend to major or minor in Catholic Studies
