Theology Department Publications
The Theology Department publishes its newsletter, Theology Matters, semiannually. The Department is also the co-publisher of ARTS: The Arts in Religious and Theological Studies, an academic journal treating the intersections between theology and art, published semiannually with United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.
Theology Matters is a biannual newsletter reporting on the work of the theology department at the University of St. Thomas. Published in the fall and spring, the newsletter includes columns from the chair and/or assistant chair, as well as feature articles about significant developments, projects, or courses in the department. The speakers’ bureau and recent publications by members of the department are regular features. Schedules for department events, including the “New Frontiers” series of lectures, and “Theology Night Live,” among other colloquia and departmental events, will be announced. The newsletter is designed by Kimberly Vrudny and is edited collaboratively by members of the department.
ARTS: The Arts in Religious and Theological Studies is a journal of the Society for the Arts in Religious and Theological Studies (SARTS) and is published by the Religion and the Arts Program at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of St. Thomas. In every issue, the journal explores the intersections between theology and the arts in the study, studio, sanctuary, classroom, and gallery. Recently published books in the field are reviewed or noted in every issue, as well. The journal is interdisciplinary, and while most of the articles are Christian in focus, many articles have included discussion of Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and other traditions, as well. Members of SARTS receive the journal with their membership; individual subscriptions are also available.
