1. Learn About Your Visa Status and Work Options
There are many different visa and work options, and ensuring you’re following the rules is important. U.S. employers may not be familiar with hiring international workers, so you need to be able to clearly communicate your work options. Office of International Students and Scholars can answer specific questions, and more resources are provided below.
2. Check Career Resources
Career Development has extensive resources to guide you in all things career, including some specific to International Students. You should also read our newsletters, connect on social media, and check Handshake for updates on career-related workshops and networking opportunities.
3. Research International Employee Friendly Employers
The Career Development Center offers GoinGlobal to all St. Thomas students. This unique database contains country-specific career and employment resources for more than 90 countries and has an extensive H1B visa database of employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications (LCA) in the past.
4. Have a Backup Plan
