Student Leadership Team

Meet the Team

Our team of 12 VISION Leaders has been hand selected to spend the year planning, promoting and organizing VISION's 12 service and cultural immersion trips for both J-term and Spring Break. Each trip is led by a pair of trained and enthusiastic student co-leaders to facilitate the best experience possible for all participants and promote student leadership!

Meet Carolyn Mueller!

Hi there, I am Carolyn Mueller, a senior double majoring in International Business Administration and Spanish. I am from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I have been so fortunate to study abroad twice through my time at St. Thomas – Theology 101 to Rome J-Term 2020 and a semester abroad in Madrid, Spain spring 2022. I am very excited to go abroad yet again and lead a VISION trip this January to help break the cycle of generational poverty in Quito, Ecuador and create lasting memories as a group. I am involved in other campus clubs like Tommie Ambassadors and Delta Sigma Pi. I look forward to meeting you all and gaining new experiences together.

Meet Josh Mounsey!

My name is Josh Mounsey and I am a double major in operations and supply chain management and environmental studies. I am from a very small island in the Caribbean called St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I have been on a VISION trip to Selma, Alabama and there I learned a lot about myself and the community. I am Catholic and I have been on two world youth day trips to Poland and Brazil to see Pope Francis and raise awareness about issues that plague our world. I am also the President of the Sustainability Club and taking care of our common home is something that resonates with my values. I am exhilarated to take this passion to Belize to further improve their communities, environment and obtain unforgettable experiences that will last a lifetime.

Meet Kyle Gomel!

I am Kyle Gomel, a senior studying biochemistry and exercise science. Last year I went on a VISION trip to Arches National Park during spring break, and this is my first year being a VISION leader! Aside from Vision, I am involved in all sorts of activities including the Club Disc Golf team, Rock Climbing Club, Salt Company, and I work for Team Tommie as well as conduct chemistry research on the mechanisms of drug interactions with HER2+ breast cancer cells. Next year, I hope to do research abroad and then start medical school with the ultimate goal of becoming an Oncologist.

Meet Maria Bloemendal!

Hello! My name is Maria, a junior majoring in marketing and digital media art. I enjoy making videos, working out, being outside in the sunshine, and playing spikeball. I love VISION because of the fun people I have met through the program. Last spring break, my Vision team went to Colorado where we volunteered with La Puente Home. We visited the Great Sand Dunes, a local hot spring, and the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge! I'm so excited to be leading a trip this year.

Meet Zoe Schearer!

Hey there! My name is Zoe Schearer and I am a junior at UST studying operations and supply chain with minors in data analytics and economics. Last year, I had the opportunity to go to Arches National Park on a spring break VISION trip and was inspired to join the leadership team after a fantastic experience. I love spontaneous camping, making pottery on a wheel, and sailing with my friends.

Around campus I work at Create[Space] and in Admissions as a Student Visit Experience Coordinator. I also am on the board of the Supply Chain Operations club and involved in Mind Matters. I couldn't be more excited to continue my VISION experience in Belize over J-Term.
