Public Safety would like to alert the University of St. Thomas community of several thefts that have occurred in Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex.
Between Sept 8 and 18, four UST students reported having property stolen while utilizing the facilities. Stolen items have included phones, a laptop and a wallet. In each case, property was either left unattended, or placed in an unsecured locker.
A suspect has been identified in these incidents. He is described as a black male, late teens/early 20’s, thin build, and on Sept.13, wearing a black ball cap with a white logo, gray hooded sweatshirt, with red/pink trim around the hood and red/pink draw strings, dark pants or jeans, and a black backpack.
On Sept. 18, he was initially wearing a white ball cap, sunglasses, blue track jacket with white stripes on the sleeve, over a white t-shirt, dark pants or jeans, blue shoes, and a black backpack with reflectors on the shoulder straps. He later changed and was seen wearing a white t-shirt with two rows of identical symbols arranged vertically on the front, and gray shorts. The hat was removed and the suspect appeared to have a near shaved head, with black hair. A short time later he changed back into his original clothes and left.
The University of St. Thomas believes that descriptors alone are not a valid reason to profile or cast suspicion on any individual. They are included here because they may reasonably assist in identifying the perpetrator of this incident.
This is the same suspect Public Safety sought in similar incidents reported to the community on June 5.
Public Safety is actively investigating these incidents in an attempt to identify this suspect. We are also asking for the community’s help in identifying or catching the person responsible. If you observe suspicious or criminal behavior on campus, contact Public Safety immediately. Community members using AARC are reminded to secure their valuables in a locker with a lock.
