Temple Israel in Minneapolis invites St. Thomas Law alumni to an upcoming event featuring Evan and Oscie Thomas, the authors of the book First: Sandra Day O'Connor. The book is an intimate, inspiring and authoritative biography of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, America's first female Supreme Court justice.

Evan Thomas is the bestselling author of ten works of nonfiction including the New York Times bestsellers John Paul Jones, Sea of Thunder and Being Nixon. He was a writer, correspondent and editor for thirty-three years at Time and Newsweek, including ten years as Washington bureau chief at Newsweek. Thomas will be in conversation with his wife, Oscie Thomas, a legal professional and a frequent collaborator with her husband on his books.

Following the discussion with the authors, two of Justice O'Connor's former judicial clerks will offer personal reflections:

  • Ivan K. Fong, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, 3M
  • Lisa Kern Griffin, Candace M. Carroll and Leonard B. Simon Professor of Law, Duke University

This event is co-sponsored by the University of St. Thomas School of Law.
