Graduate Certificate in Engineering Education + Master of Arts Degree

Credits earned from the STEM Graduate Certificate in Engineering Education are transferrable to the St. Thomas M.A. in Educational Studies program. The Center for Engineering Education also supports articulation agreements with Bethel University and St. Catherine University.

University of St. Thomas - Master of Arts in Educational Studies with an Engineering Education focus:

The University of St. Thomas School of Education now offers a Master of Arts in Educational Studies with an Engineering Education focus. The degree consists of four core education courses and six engineering education courses. Credits earned from the STEM Graduate Certificate in Engineering Education are transferrable to the St. Thomas M.A. in Educational Studies program.
 
The blended delivery model combines both online and face-to-face learning models and features the innovative learning opportunities the University of St. Thomas is known for.
 
Course Requirements (Total of 10 courses)
 
Four core courses:
  • CIED 670: Assessment for Learning
  • CIED 532: Curriculum, P-16
  • CIED 603: Education Equity & Inclusive Practices
  • CIED 551: Use of Technology for Instruction

In addition to the four core courses, students will complete six engineering education courses:

Engineering Education (6 courses)

Three required courses:

  • EGED 530 Fundamentals of Engineering
  • EGED 531 Engineering Design
  • TEGR 528 Engineering in the P-12 Classroom

Choose three electives from the following:

  • EGED 612 Digital Electronics and Computing Systems
  • EGED 613 Materials Science and Engineering
  • EGED 614 Manufacturing Engineering in the Classroom
  • EGED 615 Statics, Materials and Structures
  • EGED 699 Topics
