From Our Chaplain

Fr. Larry Blake

Seneca, the Stoic philosopher once wrote: "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

J-term has ended and Spring Semester is about to begin.   We want to welcome back our students who travelled during J-term to such places as; California, Puerto Rico, Texas and Mexico, the Virgin Islands, Uganda, and Bolivia with the VISION Program.  We also welcome back students who returned home for the month, as well as those who were studying abroad and now are back on campus ready to begin Spring Semester.

This semester the Center for Campus Ministry has exciting program opportunities waiting for you. Tommie Catholic will begin again on February 12.  On February 19, Tommie Catholic will welcome a special guest, actor Jim Caviezel. Space for this event is limited so be sure to register.

The regular daily Mass and confessions schedule will resume on Monday, February 4. Additionally, Salat ul Jumma will have a new location within ASC this semester.  Please watch for announcements about the location.

It is not too early to think about joining us for a retreat. The Silent Retreat will take place on the weekend of February 22-24. Please consult the Office for Spirituality retreat website for more information about this semester's events.

Neither is it too early to think about applying to participate in a VISION trip over Spring Break. Applications and information sessions will be available this month.

Welcome back! It's a new semester and a new beginning.  The staff at the Center for Campus Ministry strives to deepen our community's commitment to spiritual growth and social justice through a variety of prayer, service and educational opportunities. We hope to see you this semester.

Tommie Catholic presents:

Night Light Returns this Week

Registration is now open for the Silent Retreat (Feb 22-24, Christ the King Retreat Center). During this retreat, we will spend time in reflection and prayer aimed at becoming more aware of the presence of God in our lives. We will also spend time exploring those things that hamper our ability to find God in all things. Our goal is to become "contemplatives in action," people who are alert to God's presence in all of our experiences - even  those that are difficult or painful for us. For more information and to register, please visit the event page.
