Biology Department Awards

Leading E.D.G.E.

An award established to recognize and honor the most outstanding students in core biology courses. (E.D.G.E. is taken from the first letters of: Ecology, Adaptation and Diversity; and Genetics and Evolution).  Recipients of this award are recognized for their excellent academic achievement, and their notable efforts and participation.

Recently established, this award was named after the keystone that holds up an arch and keystone species, whose presence is vital to the health of an ecosystem.  It goes to senior Biology majors whose initiative and dedication has produced changes that have benefited the Biology Department, the University of St. Thomas, or the wider community. Recipients have distinguished themselves by their high level of engagement and a concern for the common good.
