"We are poised."
It is my privilege to serve as the 15th president of the University of St. Thomas.
Now in its 129th year, St. Thomas has evolved from humble beginnings as a men’s seminary and college into a comprehensive coeducational university that is the largest private higher education institution in Minnesota. Even with that growth, we continue to focus on the needs of individual students and fulfill our mission statement to educate them "to be morally responsible leaders who think critically, act wisely, and work skillfully to advance the common good."
The "tagline" that we use on our website and in our advertising encourages members of the St. Thomas community: "Challenge yourself, Change our world." In my short time here, I have found a caring and compassionate community that seeks personal growth and truly engages in and creates positive change in the world.
I invite you and all members of the St. Thomas community (faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni) to partner with me and one another to lead this already strong university to even greater levels of aspiration, achievement and positive impact on our world.
Julie H. Sullivan, Ph.D.
