Wellness Center announces Fred J. Lauerman Memorial Scholarship
The Fred J. Lauerman Memorial Scholarship, valued at $1,000, is available through the Wellness Center. Priority deadline is May 1.
To be eligible for the Lauerman Scholarship, the recipient must:
- Currently be in recovery from alcohol or other drugs.
- Actively attend AA/NA meetings.
- Be enrolled at St. Thomas.

Histo ry of the scholarship
The Fred J. Lauerman Scholarship at St. Thomas was established by Thomas Dolan and a few of his classmates in honor of Fred Lauerman, another of their classmates of the Class of 1951. Lauerman apparently struggled with several addictions throughout his life
In establishing the scholarship, Dolan hoped to assist students at St. Thomas who were recovering from alcohol or chemical addictions with an annual scholarship. The general criterion to receive this scholarship is that the UST student be in an active program or recovery.
