VISION hosts seven information sessions

Each year VISION takes groups of St. Thomas students on worldwide service-immersion trips during January Term and spring break. In  January, VISION (Volunteers in Service Internationally or Nationally) will travel to Kampala, Uganda; Guguletu, South Africa; Laos; Quail Springs, Calif.; El Paso and Juarez, Texas (by the Mexican border); San Lucan Toliman, Guatemala; and San Felix, Venezuela.

Applications are due Tuesday, Oct. 6. Learn more about the sites and the application process at an information session. All sessions will be held in Room 152, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.

Information sessions will be held:

  • Noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24
  • Noon-1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27
  • 8-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28
  • 8-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30
  • Noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1
  • 12:15-1:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4
  • 8-9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4

Volunteer duties are varied and include work such as: harvesting coffee in Guatemala, learning about Texas’ immigration issues with Mexico, working with children in Venezuela, delivering food parcels in South Africa, building a bridge in Laos, working on a permaculture farm in California or building a chicken coup in Uganda.
