Tommies put unbeaten record on the line for Homecoming

The University of St. Thomas football team will put its unbeaten record on the line Saturday for Homecoming.

The Tommies (4-0 overall, 3-0 MIAC) take on the Cobbers of Concordia-Moorhead (2-2 overall, 0-2 MIAC) at 1 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 10, on Palmer Field in O'Shaughnessy Stadium. If you can't attend, you can still support the Tommies by watching the game online. All Tommie games this year will have live audio or video and/or live stats. Access the UST video webcast here.

The game is just one aspect of the annual Homecoming Reunion Celebration:

Homecoming Pep Fest
The annual Homecoming Pep Fest will take place at 6 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 9, in the lower quad. The Cheer Team, Dance Team and Pep Band will all perform in order to pump up student spirit for Homecoming weekend. In addition, UST's 2009 NCAA national championship team will be recognized. Immediately following  the Pep Fest, STAR will distribute tie-dyed Homecoming shirts.

Homecoming parade
The traditional Homecoming parade begins at 10 a.m. along Summit Avenue between Fry Street and Cretin Avenue. Watch for floats, bands, cheerleaders and, of course, the St. Thomas mascot, “Tommie.”

“Taste of Saints”
Then there is the annual “Taste of Saints” food fest, which is much like a giant tailgate party. It’s a good place to have a bite to eat before the football game and lasts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the campus quadrangle. There are children’s activities, too.

Bring your camera!
Help UST capture the excitement of homecoming 2010. Share your fun and your pictures of Homecoming with other Tommies through Facebook. After the festivities, post your pictures from the parade, Taste of Saints and the football game on the University of St. Thomas Facebook page.  While you’re at it, don’t forget to become a fan.

Inclement weather
Inclement weather could affect the outdoor events planned for the Homecoming-Reunion Celebration. Should heavy precipitation or lightning exist, the Wellness 5K Run/Walk, the parade and the Taste of Saints would be canceled. Only if lightning exists would the football game be canceled or delayed. The decision to cancel the morning events will be made early Saturday morning. Check with the university's information desk or call the main switchboard, (651) 962-5000,  for updates.

Class Reunions
Classes from 1969, 1979, 1989 and 1999 will hold reunions.
