The Newsroom staff is always interested in hearing what is going on around campus. Whether it’s student or faculty research, a quirky fact, a well-known speaker or visitor, we want to hear from you. If you have a notice, deadline or reminder that you would like posted in the Newsroom, please note that your request must be submitted by 4 p.m. Wednesday to be considered for “The Week Ahead” email (see more below).
Hosting a meeting or event on campus? The Newsroom publicizes many events through the Events page, which pulls its information from the room scheduling application R25. For your event to appear on the events page, schedule your room in R25 and provide as many details as possible when filling out the form. Make sure to click the box labeled “Include in Newsroom’s calendar.” All events with the most complete information will be curated by our editors and added to the Featured Events category on the calendar. Featured Events will also appear on the right side of the homepage.
The Newsroom encourages departments to post details about events and meetings on their respective websites. To publicize your event in a Newsroom email, first publish the information on your department’s website, then share the link with the Newsroom staff using the form below.
Newsroom Email Messages
While there are scheduled email messages delivered throughout the week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays), all Newsroom content is posted on a continuous publication cycle. In other words, the Newsroom is updated with new stories throughout the day. If you would like your article to be considered for inclusion in one of the regularly scheduled weekly email messages, please be aware of the content focus for each message:
Mondays (“The Week Ahead”): This message is sent to two specific audiences – faculty/staff and students – and will contain notices, deadlines or reminders for the week ahead. Deadline: All content must be received no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesdays to be considered for inclusion in this email. All other content will still be posted in the Newsroom.
Wednesdays (“The Midweek”): This message is sent to the full community and will only highlight feature articles (long form) from the previous seven days. Deadline: Given that features often take longer to produce, we ask that you submit your request at least 10 days prior to the desired publication date.
Thursdays (“The Weekender”): This message is sent to the full community and will highlight some of the events taking place on campus during the upcoming weekend. Deadline: All content must be posted on R25 or received by the Newsroom staff no later than 1 p.m. on Tuesdays to be considered for this email.
Please remember that each of these email messages are not intended to be all-inclusive, but rather a select representation of the many stories that are posted every day in the Newsroom.
