Dr. Dan Carey, College of Arts and Sciences (Health and Human Performance Department), and Dr. German Pliego and Dr. Robert Raymond, College of Arts and Sciences (Quantitative Methods and Computer Science Department), are co-authors of an article, “A Comparison of Different Heart Rate Deflection Methods to Predict the Anaerobic Threshold,” published in the fall issue of the European Journal of Sport Science. The article deals with the validity, or lack thereof, of the heart rate breakpoint theory in assessing the anaerobic threshold. 

Dr. Peter Parilla, College of Arts and Sciences (Sociology and Criminal Justice Department), has been appointed to serve as the secretary of the Midwest Sociological Society.  He also will serve on the society's Executive Committee.
