Police take new look at unsolved murder of St. Thomas student in 1991

Bloomington police have renewed their investigation of the unsolved stabbing death of a University of St. Thomas student that took place in May 1991.

Theresa M. Johnson, then a sophomore majoring in psychology, was at her family home in Bloomington when an unknown intruder stabbed her. She was able to call 911, but by the time an ambulance arrived she was unconscious. She died five days later at Hennepin County Medical Center.

A memorial service was held on campus that spring in the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Caroline Lowe, a crime reporter for WCCO television and a St. Thomas graduate, produced a story about the case; it was broadcast Monday evening. She reported that police have narrowed the list of suspects to three men. Bloomington police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them at (952) 563-8863.
