Please remember in your prayers Father Peter Njoku, who died Nov. 12 while visiting his family in Owerri, Nigeria.
He is the uncle of St. Thomas seniors Christian (Dec. '06), and Rex Njoku (May '07). Four other nephews also attended St. Thomas – Victor Nwachukwu, Nnamdi Njoku, Okwu Njoku '00, and Mark Onwuji '05.
Njoku was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Owerri in 1974. He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1980 and a master's degree from the University of St. Thomas in 1989. He incardinated to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in 2001. He was the pastor of St. Jerome's Church in Maplewood. He also had served at St. Michael in Pine Island, St. Mary in Bellechester and St. Paul in Zumbrota.
Funeral and interment will take place in Owerri on Nov. 24.
