Personal Counseling adds Anxiety Support Group Patricia Sirek October 12, 2009 The Personal Counseling and Testing office announces the addition of an Anxiety Support Group for interested students. The group will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays in Room 370, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. The group’s goal is to help students learn to manage anxiety and stress in a healthy way with group support and the practice of “mindfulness meditation,” described as “accepting one’s current experience in a relaxed, alert, and open-hearted way” (Germer, Siegel and Fulton, 2005). For more information, contact Steve Maurer or Laura Sherr or call the office, (651) 962-6780, to set up an intake meeting. Other support groups include the Relationships Group, which meets 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays, and the Creating Positive Body Image Group, which meets from noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays.
