SIFE Conducts McNeely Hall Food Drive

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) is conducting a food drive through Friday, Dec. 17, in McNeely Hall. SIFE has placed collection bins for nonperishable food items in Room 128 and in the third-floor lounge.

SIFE cannot accept items with an expiration date that has expired, donations in glass containers and home-canned foods.

Most-needed items:

  • Meats, fish and protein – canned tuna, ham or chicken, beef stew, chili, peanut butter, canned and dried beans
  • Fruits and vegetables – 100 percent fruit juice, canned fruits and vegetables, instant potatoes, fruit preserves
  • Complete meals – pasta and sauce, boxed meals, hearty soups
  • Grains – cereal, rice

The food drive is part of SIFE's participation in the Campbell Soup Company’s Let’s Can Hunger Challenge, a comprehensive initiative that not only includes collecting food for people in need but also focuses on raising awareness, translating awareness to action in the form of urgent hunger relief, and empowering those in need to defeat the cycle of hunger.

The team’s goal is to raise more than 5,000 pounds of food this school year.
