Library today: Media Resources Collection
From the UST Libraries
The Media Resources Collection holds more than 5,000 films in DVD and VHS formats. Its excellent DVD selection covers documentaries and movies of all subject areas and from several venues, including: Discovery Channel, History Channel, PBS, BBC, ABC, foreign films, independent films and more.
UST students can check out videos for two days (free). The collection also provides access to more than 50 titles via streaming video that can be watched on your computer from home, dorm or any computer on campus. The Media Collection is located in Room 309, O'Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center, and has extended hours of operation – check the Web site.

Music Resource Center
The Music Resource Center (MRC) houses the UST libraries' recordings, music-related videos and classical music scores. Located in Room 103, Brady Educational Center, on south campus, this music library is an ideal location for students studying music courses or with a general interest in music.
The MRC houses the only public computers available in Brady Educational Center and also contains CD players, turntables and televisions for listening to and viewing music (headphones also are available for checkout). More than 1,000 CDs of classical, jazz, world and popular music are available to check out with your UST ID. Trained staff is ready and willing to assist you in finding music that can be used for presentations, recitals, concerts or for pure listening enjoyment.

RefWorks Help
Because you have other things to do with your time, let RefWorks create your bibliography for you. Sign up for a RefWorks workshop and learn how to capture and store references to journal articles, books and Web sites automatically in a free, Web-based RefWorks account. Then, when you're ready to prepare a bibliography or incorporate references into a paper, you can just choose your style (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.) and RefWorks will format it for you.

Database of the week
The UST libraries have added many new online databases to our collection over the summer and we will highlight them over the next several weeks in the Bulletin Today. This week's featured database is Washington Post (historical).
Just as with the online version of the historic New York Times, the Washington Post (historical) is a complete digital archive of the newspaper, including advertisements, from 1877 until 1990. Also, like the New York Times, the database is easy to search by keywords, locations, names or page numbers and results can be sorted by date or relevancy. Patrons who want to learn about American history, culture and government no longer need to sift through rolls of microfilm to study first-hand resources.
