It's teeter-totter time!

Ireland Hall's 19th annual Teeter-Totter Marathon to benefit the Harriet Tubman Family Alliance begins with a kickoff cookout at noon Sunday, May 4. The 72-hour marathon of teeter-tottering ends at noon Wednesday, May 7, in Foley Plaza.

That's 150,000 or so teeters. Sales of Ireland Hall sweatshirts are raising funds for Tubman, too.

Dig through your pockets and purses, and drop off your dollars in the donation bucket near the teeter-totter or send a check payable to "Ireland Hall Teeter Totter" to the Teeter-Totter Marathon, c/o Ireland Hall Council, Mail #5052. All contributions are tax-deductible.

Shifts are still available for teeter-tooter riders. Interested in riding awhile? Take a look at the sign-up sheet inside the south entrance to Ireland Hall.

In past years, the marathon has raised as much as $4,000 for Tubman Family Alliance, which provides an immediate safe haven at three emergency shelters and 12 transitional housing units for women and children in crisis. It also offers support services to men, women and children in Hennepin, Washington and suburban Ramsey counties.
