Dr. Darin Ulness, associate professor of chemistry at Concordia College in Moorhead, will present today’s Chemistry Seminar on halogen bonding.
Halogen bonding is an attractive force that can exist between halogens and electron-rich atoms such as nitrogen and oxygen. It is being utilized in macromolecular engineering, biochemistry and pharmacology.
Ulness will discuss studies of halogen bonding in iodo-perfluoroalkane systems.
Chemistry Seminars are held at 3 p.m. each Friday in Room 251, Owens Science Hall. All are welcome to attend.
