Central Receiving gives away more metal file cabinets, solid oak chairs

It took just four hours last Friday for Central Receiving’s file cabinet giveaway to clear out the entire stock, except for a few odd-ball units.

Witht that success, the Recycling Team returned to the Shoreview warehouse and found another 15 metal file cabinets to give awy, some two-drawer and some four-drawer as well as a couple of lateral file units.

They cabinets are covered with a bit of snow but in good condition and standing outside in Central Receiving's fenced area on south campus. The cabinets are free to members of the UST community. All that is required is provide a vehicle for loading and removal, and sign a UST property-release form.

The Recycling Team also brought back some UST history to share and give away – heavy oak chairs from the O'Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center collection. The chairs are Phoenix solid oak with an upholstered pink-salmon back, made in Sheboygan, Wis. The chairs are in good shape, although some have split oak seats that could be reglued and some have little tears in the upholstery that could be covered. About 40 chairs are available.

All items, cabinets and chairs, are available first come, first served. File cabinets unclaimed by Friday, Dec. 18, will be recycled as scrap metal. Unclaimed chairs will be donated to charity.

Central Receiving is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other pick-up times are possible if coordinated with Central Receiving. For pickups after 1 p.m., contact Bob Douglas, Central Receiving coordinator, 962-6388.
