The Utilization of the Orff Schulwerk Approach in the Spanish Immersion School

December 6, 2016 / By: Elizabeth Schultz

The purpose of this project was to explore how the Orff-Schulwerk approach can be utilized in a Spanish immersion school. A review of literature illustrates the goals and benefits of participating in an immersion program, as well as the fundamental elements of the Orff-Schulwerk approach. Through this analysis, a synthesis between the Orff-Schulwerk approach and second language acquisition skills is made to support both language learning and musical development within the music class. Lesson plans are developed using essential Orff-Schulwerk materials and elements, while incorporating text and music that stems from the Spanish language.
