Christy Botts is the MJF staff attorney for the University of St. Thomas School of Law.

Christy earned a J.D. with honors from the University of St. Thomas in 2011. Before entering law school, she earned a Master of Education from the University of Minnesota. Previously she was an Academic Counselor at Southern University Law Center and tutored for Hamline University School of Law students. Before seeking a second career in the legal field, Botts dedicated herself to improving the lives of youth, families, and communities. She has served as an education and employment specialist, a special education assistant, and a juvenile corrections officer.

In the legal field, she has worked for the Violent Crimes Division of the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, completed an externship with a judge in criminal court, and volunteered with the Legal Rights Center and diversion programs.

Botts is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, serving on the MSBA Public Law Section committee until May 2011. She is also a Realtor with Edina Realty and believes strongly in home ownership as a community building enterprise. She served as a volunteer for the City of Lakes Community Land Trust many years.

During law school, Botts was honored by the Minnesota Justice Foundation for logging more than 300 hours in volunteer legal services. She held elected positions on UST’s Board of Advocates and the Public Service Board, participated in the William E. McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition, and was a key organizer of the University of St. Thomas School of Law's intramural moot court competition.
