Career

Chong has a broad-spectrum experience and interest in different areas such as wireless communication, control system & automation and signal processing. She published in different areas such as IEEE Vehicular Technology, Signal Processing, Wireless Communication, Communication, Nanotechnology and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Prior to working at UST, she was a telecommunications research scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), US department of Commerce, as a member of the Smart Grid project since March 2010. She and her group proposed a new network structure, designed a novel packet scheduling algorithm, and developed the stochastic model to prove its optimality. She has also been studying heuristics algorithms, such as genetic algorithms, ant colony optimization (ACO), harmony search and Tabu search. Her work also focused on developing novel algorithms for large-scale optimization problems in various fields such as wireless communication physical layer or networks, FPGA cell assignment problems, etc. During her Ph.D studies in University of Southampton, she developed ACO-based algorithms to solve the NP-hard multi-user detection problems in various state-of-the-art wireless communication systems.
