Your St. Thomas password does not expire. However you can change or reset it at any time using the options below.

Getting Started

Note - Your User ID is your full

If you forgot your username, visit our walk-up help desks with a photo ID and we will reset your password. For security purposes, we do not reset passwords via email.

XST & IPC accounts

These student worker and administrator accounts can reset their password from an on-campus desktop PC that is connected to the St. Thomas internet. Simply press CTRL+ALT+DEL and select "Change a Password" to create and confirm your new password. If this does not work, contact the Tech Desk. If you need an XST or IPC account, discuss this with your supervisor or hiring manager who is authorized to make this request. 

Password Requirements

When creating your password, it must follow the guidelines below:

  • at least 15 characters in length
  • at least (1) uppercase letter
  • at least (1) lowercase letter
  • at least (1) number
  • may not include your first name or last name
  • may not include  your username
  • may not include  the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.
  • may not include spaces or any of the following special characters: % * ; " ` # @ & , \ ; ---
  • may not be any of previous 10 passwords. 


Creating a secure password and being alert to phishing attempts which aim to obtain your credentials will both reduce the risk of being a victim of identity theft and minimize the amount of spam in your email.

Prevent being locked out of your account

Setup your authentication options now so you can easily reset your password in the future. If you're across the world studying abroad or we're closed, you can still access your account in a breeze!

Setup Phone Authentication

  1. Login 
  2. Next to "Authentication Phone is not configured" click on Set it up now.
  3. Select your country
  4. Enter in your personal phone number with area code in the following example format: 555-555-5555
    Note: This cannot be your St. Thomas desk phone
  5. Click either "Text me" or "Call me" to receive a verification code that this is your device. 
  6. Check your mobile phone for the verification code. 
  7. Enter the verification code and click verify
  8. The page will update with this information.
  9. Continue to the setup an email authentication and security questions or click Finish

Setup Email Authentication

  1. Login
  2. Next to "Authentication Email is not configured" click on Set it up now.
  3. Type in your personal secondary email address (eg.
  4. A verification email will be sent to that email with a verification code
  5. Go to your other email and look for the email from the Microsoft Online Services Team
  6. Copy the code from this email and enter it back on the authentication setup screen
  7. Press verify
  8. It will update your account with this information
  9. Continue to the setup a phone authentication and security questions or click Finish

Setup Security Questions

      1. Login
      2. Next to "Security Questions are not configured" click on Set it up now.
      3. You are required to setup 5 security questions
      4. Select a question from the drop down menu
      5. Type your response ( must be at least 3 characters long)
      6. Continue until the end
      7. Click Finish
      8. It will bring you back to the main page where you can continue to setup a phone and email authentication or click Finish
