The Murphy Institute is pleased to present the first event of the 2012-2013 Hot Topics: Cool Talk series with a special public lecture by the Most Reverend Charles Morerod, OP, of the diocese of Fribourg, Lausanne, and Geneva, Switzerland.  Bishop Morerod is the former rector of the Angelicum in Rome and the former Secretary General of the International Theological Commission and Consultor for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.  This past June he was appointed a member of the Congregation for Catholic Education.  Bishop Morerod holds a doctorate in both Theology and Philosophy.  He will address the challenges to religious freedom from a  European context in a lecture titled: "Vatican II's Declaration on Religious Freedom: The View from Europe."

The Murphy Institute's 2012-2013 Hot Topics: Cool Talk series of discussions, which fearlessly explores Catholic positions and other perspectives on provocative issues of law and politics, will focus this year on the many challenges to religious freedom around the world.
