A lawyer by training, Mr. Towey represented Mother Teresa from 1985 until her death in 1997. Mr. Towey’s long-standing concern for those in society who are marginalized and vulnerable led him to found Aging with Dignity in 1996, a non-profit organization focused on honoring the human dignity of those at the end of life. In 2002, Mr. Towey was named to head the White House Office for Faith-Based Initiatives. From 2006 to 2010, he served as president of St Vincent’s College in Latrobe, PA and he was recently named as the new president of Ave Maria University, which office he will assume in July, 2011.
