The exhibit "Path to Safan: Power, Place and Sanctuary in Asmat Art" examines the ancestors in Asmat art and art forms that help their spirits find sanctuary in Safan-the land of the ancestors.

The exhibit "Path to Safan: Power, Place and Sanctuary in Asmat Art" will open at 5 p.m. Friday, April 6, in the American Museum of Asmart Art, which is on the second floor of the Anderson Student Center. The exhibit will run through July 31. It examines the ancestors in Asmat art and the art forms and ceremonies that help their spirits find sanctuary in Safan - the land of the ancestors.
The exhibit is co-hosted by the St. Thomas Department of Art History.
