The National Women's Studies Association held its annual conference in Baltimore, Maryland in November 2017. Senior Maggie Huettl and a faculty member from St. Thomas attended, as well as several students and faculty from other ACTC (Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities) schools. The topic of the conference was "Forty Years After Combahee: Feminist Scholars and Activists Engage the Movement for Black Lives," and celebrated the authors of the Combahee River Collective Statement of 1977. The conference provided a fabulous opportunity for all attendees to learn about and discuss gender issues. The 2018 theme will be "Just Imagine, Imagining Justice."
Looking ahead: The 2020 NWSA Annual Conference will be held in Minneapolis!
