Travel Grants

Each year, the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program supports research-related student travel with two grant programs: Conference Travel Grants (a reimbursement of expenses incurred while presenting research at academic conferences) and Research Travel Grants (a reimbursement of expenses incurred when traveling to carry out research). Learn more through the links below.

Please be aware that applications for student travel grants remain open only as long as funds are available. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Travel Grant status

Per President Sullivan, all university-sponsored travel is suspended through July 31, 2020. From August 1 through December 31, essential university-sponsored travel must be approved by the appropriate cabinet member.

Starting July 1, undergraduate students may apply for UROP funding to present at virtual conferences and meetings only. The available Conference Travel Grant application is now tailored for virtual conference funding requests. UROP is not accepting applications for Research Travel Grants at this time.

If you are an undergraduate student making research and conference travel plans between August 1 and December 31, 2020, you may provide your information to be notified of updates using this form.

Conference Travel Grants provide undergraduate students with up to $750 in funding for travel-related expenses associated with presenting research at academic conferences. Learn more here.

Research Travel Grants provide undergraduate students with up to $750 in funding for research-related travel expenses. Students must be traveling to carry out research in order to qualify for a Research Travel Grant. Learn more here.
