Major: Biology

Why were you interested in transferring to St. Thomas?
I felt my previous school lacked school pride. It was hard for me to feel connected.

Did you visit campus prior to enrolling?
Yes. I took a campus tour and met with my transfer admissions counselor. This helped me decide to attend St. Thomas. The personal tour of campus really stuck with me. All the people I met at UST seemed to genuinely want me.

Why did you choose to transfer to St. Thomas?
I initially chose UST because everyone made me feel welcome. I had a great transfer counselor, and I was able to sit in on a biology lab.

The size of the university was a big factor in my decision. Every professor I’ve had learned each student’s name. I’ve made stronger connections with professors in one semester at UST compared to the three semesters in Texas. I can also add that I enjoy my classes more too. The professors here make the courses interesting.

What do you like about our location?
I really like the scenery and feel of the Twin Cities. It has all the great perks of a large city but without the congestion. It’s a great mix.

What advice do you have for prospective transfer students?
St. Thomas is small enough where you can get to know the faculty and students well, but also large enough to afford students the benefits you would find at larger universities. If this is what you’re looking for, then St. Thomas would be a good choice.
