United States veterans and active military personnel have dedicated their lives in service to our country. In recognition of this commitment, the University St. Thomas is dedicated to providing a rich educational experience for veteran students inside and outside of the classroom.

Admission Information

Like any transfer student, veterans must complete the admission application. What does this include?

Once started, our free application can be saved to complete later.

As long as it is one to two pages, this paper can be on any topic! Options include but are not limited to:

  • A paper you've already written for class
  • A paper that was previously submitted with a UST application
  • A personal statement/essay with details you would like to share with the admissions committee

The Dean of Students Form assesses a person's disciplinary and behavioral history. Most commonly it should be completed by the applicant and your current institution.

If your current or last institution is the military, the DD214 is an acceptable replacement to the Dean of Students form.

This must be mailed or faxed directly from the high school to St. Thomas. An official high school transcript is always required, regardless of the applicant’s age or number of earned credits.

Applicants must submit transcripts from all accredited and non-accredited institutions (foreign or domestic) regardless of whether you want the credits to transfer to St. Thomas. Remember that PSEO or dual enrollment credits in high school can count as college credits. Failure to submit all college transcripts at the time of application can result in expulsion.

Military transcript (ACE, JST or otherwise) must be submitted at the time of application.

Begin the certification process, if you are eligible to receive veterans’ benefits. Questions can be directed to Debra Shelito, School Certifying Official (SCO) in the Registrar’s Office at (651)962-6725.

St. Thomas offers an unlimited number of Yellow Ribbon awards to eligible full-time undergraduate students. This benefit covers all tuition and required fees (up to 36 credits annually). Questions can be directed to Susan Brady at (651)962-6553.

The University of St. Thomas is dedicated to our veterans. We encourage you to begin the process early by using our Veteran Resources site.
