Social Justice Summit - Engaging the Dynamics of Privilege and Oppression

This summit is built to intact social change through building skills in advocacy, community engagement, and knowledge within a social justice lens. Participants are to reflect and build within their social capacity in creating a more intercultural competent community. This summit will focus on the dynamics of how power and privilege plays within the systems of oppression.

 Learning Outcomes:

  • Deepen your understanding of the dynamics of oppression and historically marginalized groups, cultures and systems
  • Learn to reflect and develop problem solving and critical thinking skills within a social justice framework
  • Increase your intercultural intelligence and develop confidence in their ability to have deeper conversations about diversity

Facilitator: Dr. Becky Martinez is a consultant and trainer with an emphasis on social justice, leadership and organizational change. Her work focuses on engaging individuals and groups to recognize systemic dynamics of privilege and oppression to create more inclusive and equitable policies, practices, and structures. Prior to full-time consultancy, Becky worked as a student affairs administrator at both public and private institutions in California. She is a faculty member for the Social Justice Training Institute and a Co-Lead Facilitator for the LeaderShape Institute.
