Student Diversity and Inclusion Services promote diversity and social justice awareness for all students through personal interactions, leadership and training opportunities, and various sponsored and co-sponsored educational programs. We aim to ensure the retention and graduation rates of students of color (i.e., Asian/Pacific-Islander, Hispanic/Latino/a or Chicano/a, African American, and Native American/American Indian) are equitable, and to maintain an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

Student Diversity and Inclusion Services sponsors programs that are designed to increase awareness of diversity and social justice.  Programs may include speakers, educational programs, training events, and social opportunities. One such series is our Heritage Month programs, which encourage students from all backgrounds to learn more about the diverse and multicultural mosaic upon which our communities are built.

Yes. We offer several need-based scholarships to undergraduate U.S. students of color. Application information is emailed to all eligible students (cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher required) and information can be found on our website during spring semester. We do not currently offer any scholarships for graduate students. All students should utilize the Financial Aid Office for additional information about scholarship opportunities.

The best place to begin is talking directly with your professor/instructor.  The Academic Counseling & Support Office, located in Room 110 Murray-Herrick, offers additional assistance with developing class schedules, choosing majors, finding tutors, and developing good study habits and skills.

Every unit in student affairs and academic affairs is committed to helping students achieve their goals. We welcome all students.

Campus Life maintains a list of over 100 clubs and organizations.  You are sure to find one that interests you. Some suggestions include:

All clubs are open to all students. 

You may also be interested in pursuing one of several different student leadership opportunities on campus, including resident or commuter advisor, orientation leader, or positions in our office like Linkages Intern or REAL Program Peer Advisor.  For more information, visit the Student Leadership Selection site.  Applications are typically due very early in the spring semester.

We will generally refer students with these types of questions to the Career Development Center, which is located in Room 123 Murray Herrick.  Career counselors are available via individual appointments and group workshops, and their website also offers an abundance of useful information.  Our student diversity career specialist, who also works 3/4 time with the Career Development Center, assists with organizing additional resources for diverse students, including workshops on resume development and networking.
