How to Become a Changemaker

Do you want to be a leader who makes positive change? On November 15, come to the Anderson Student Center (ASC) at the University of St. Thomas to learn about how you can join a team of changemakers and implement proven social innovations in our community. The event will be in ASC 378 South from 11:45AM-1:15PM. Admission is free and lunch will be provided (on a first-come, first-serve basis).

This event will build upon the new partnership between the University of St. Thomas and ChangeX, an international organization aiming to help communities discover and launch innovations in areas like health, education, inclusion, and the environment. Their model is to take ideas for social change that have worked elsewhere. They then provide an online platform and mentorship to help folks take those ideas and get them started locally.

This event is aimed to introduce ChangeX ideas to the St. Thomas community and to inspire everyone to make commitments to action. The 10 ideas they are promoting range from a program to create computer coding classes for youth in underserved communities to an organization that establishes common toolsheds and workspaces for men facing social isolation. A full list of ideas is here:

Representatives from ChangeX will first present and promote the 10 ideas. We will then create networking and teambuilding opportunities to help participants gain inspiration about what can be done. This should be a fun, interactive, and inspiring opportunity

The event is open to all students, staff, faculty, alumni, lifelong learners, and the general public. We seek to foster collaborations among all of these different groups in order to create diverse and resilient teams.

This event is co-hosted by the Social Innovation Collaboratory, the Selim Center for Lifelong Learning, the Center for Global and Local Engagement, the Office of Mission, and Campus Life.
