Science, Technology, & Engineering Preview Summer (STEPS)

Science, Technology, and Engineering Preview Summer (STEPS) is an introduction to the exciting world of science, technology and engineering.

Building on the success of the STEPS programs hosted at the University of St. Thomas since 2000, five engineering one-day programs will be offered in the summer of 2019. It is a no-cost engineering program for girls who are currently in 6th or 8th grade. The programs are hosted by and held at the University of St. Thomas, School of Engineering in St. Paul, MN.

Participants will engineer, make, connect with mentors, work in the engineering labs, unwind at the University of St. Thomas recreation facilities, and work with engineering faculty to build resources that they can access throughout their high school careers. We hope to expose learners to potential engineering careers, college life and ignite an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

STEPS One-Day Camps feature:

  • An opportunity for girls to learn more about what engineers do and make new friends.
  • Workshops taught by instructors with extensive backgrounds in engineering, technology, science and education.
  • Hands-on experience with high-tech equipment and processes at the University of St. Thomas School of Engineering.
  • College-life experience and recreation at the University of St. Thomas.
