Join us for Happy Hour
Thursday, July 23, 5-7p.m.
164 Snelling Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55104 (corner of Selby and Snelling)
Please join current School of Divinity students and alumni for an informal happy hour at O’Gara’s in St. Paul to learn more about the degree programs offered by The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity at the University of St. Thomas.
At 6:00 p.m., Dr. Deborah Savage, Program Director for Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry, will share the importance of the role of the laity in the mission of the Church.
Here are some thoughts to encourage you as you consider your call to further formation:
I am excited because I think our degree programs for ministry and service in the Church have reached a level of excellence that will provide the Church with ministers equipped to serve. Not only are they academically robust, grounded as they are in a faithful understanding of the Church's teachings; they also are designed to provide formation in each of the four pillars the Church maintains are necessary for any type of ministry: human, intellectual, pastoral, and spiritual. Though the programs have somewhat different requirements, all are ordered toward the education of the whole person because, as St. Thomas Aquinas demonstrates, one cannot give what one does not have. And the Church is in real need of those who can witness to our faith, not only in word, but in the way we live out our Christian commitments.
I do hope you will be able to join us for the gathering on July 23rd; there may never have been a greater need for lay people to respond to God's call to serve the Church than right now - or a more crucial time to get the training and formation we need to do that with both prudence and joy. I would welcome an opportunity to speak with you further about our aims and our vision for The Saint Paul School of Divinity at the University of St. Thomas. ”
Please keep in mind that the bridge over 94 at Snelling is closed so it is best to approach from the South. We look forward to spending time with each of you about our shared desire to build up the faith and serve each other, and be faithful witnesses to the world.
