Institute for Ongoing Clergy Formation (IOCF)
The vision of The Saint Paul Seminary Institute for Ongoing Clergy Formation (IOCF) is captured in St. Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy when he exhorts him:
"I remind you to stir into flame the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands."
- 2 Timothy 1:6
Because the Church believes that “it is particularly important to be aware of and to respect the intrinsic link between formation before ordination to the priesthood and formation after ordination,” (Pastores Dabo Vobis, n. 71) the SPS Institute for Ongoing Clergy Formation has been established to help clergy progress in their generous response to the gift God has bestowed on them.
St. John Paul II exhorts us further: "Should there be a break in continuity, or worse a complete difference between these two phases of formation, there would be serious and immediate repercussions on pastoral work and fraternal communion among priests." (PDV, 71)
The IOCF nurtures continuing, holistic growth in knowledge, conversion and holiness of life, by offering ongoing formation across the four dimensions of formation: spiritual, human, pastoral and intellectual -- to ensure clergy are disposed to build up the Body of Christ in our parishes, dioceses, and throughout the world.
