Federal Policies

Please be aware of the following federal policies as you prepare your grant or contract proposal for submission to an external funding agency.   The following policies can have a direct impact on how you design your proposal: 

Code of Federal Regulations
A codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government.  

Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
The Federal Acquisition Regulations System is established for the codification and publication of uniform policies and procedures for acquisition by all executive agencies.

The Federal Register           
The Federal Register is the official daily publication for rules, proposed rules, and notices of Federal agencies and organizations, as well as executive orders and other presidential documents. 

NSF Grant Proposal Guide
This Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) is a compendium of basic NSF policies and procedures. Its coverage includes the NSF granting process, from proposal preparation through issuance and administration of an award, and closeout.

U.S. Government Publishing Office
Lists current/active/existing U.S. Federal Government agencies as represented in the United States Government Manual.

Protection of Human Subjects
This section of the Code of Federal Regulations contains the basic HHS policy for the protection of human subjects
